About

Hello! My name is Sarah Wotaszak, and I’m a junior at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). I’m studying for a bachelor’s degree in English, with a concentration in media, rhetoric, and cultural studies and a minor in Gender & Women’s Studies. Currently, I’m interested in discussions about feminism, criminal justice reform, politics, and the power of standard and social media.

This website was created to serve as a portfolio of the work I’ve completed in two courses, the first of which was Media & Professional Writing. This class teaches students about media analysis and writing, including interviews, news, features, and public relations communications. The course is taught by Dr. Margena A. Christian, a nationally published editor and writer whose work has appeared in weekly and monthly magazines along with online platforms, including Ebony and Jet.

The second course was Introduction to Digital Journalism, which focuses on the opportunities and challenges faced by journalist in the digital world. The course is taught by Mike Reilley, a business director at MediaShift.org  as well as a Google News Lab trainer, who founded The Journalist’s Toolbox.

Please feel free to contact me with any criticisms, suggestions, or concerns with my work. I’m very interested in feedback!
